Aircraft Touchless Faucets: Hygiene and Water Efficiency in Aircraft Cabins
Touchless faucets are increasingly used in aircraft lavatories to improve hygiene and reduce water consumption. These systems allow passengers to activate water flow without physically touching the faucet, which helps minimize contact with potentially contaminated surfaces.
Touchless faucets typically use infrared sensors to detect hand movement beneath the spout. When the sensor detects motion, it activates an internal valve that allows water to flow. Once the hands are removed, the system automatically shuts off the water supply.
