Reflection Title - Let Your Questions Guide Your Path
Book - Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!": Adventures of a Curious Character by Richard Feynman
Book Description: Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!": Adventures of a Curious Character is an edited collection of reminiscences by the Nobel Prize–winning physicist Richard Feynman. The book, released in 1985, covers a variety of instances in Feynman's life. The anecdotes in the book are based on recorded audio conversations that Feynman had with his close friend and drumming partner Ralph Leighton
My Reflection: Richard Feynman...WHAT A CHARACTER! I never would have thought a physicist could live such a wild life filled with all kinds of adventure and mischief. I figured they would all be these stuffy nerd dudes that sat around talking about quantum physics and scribbling equations on a chalk board in gross cardigans. Not Richard Feynman! This cat had to be genuinely the most curious person on the planet that led him to experience all areas of life because of it. He never stopped asking questions and seeking answers once in his head. From trying to figure out how to repair radio's as a child, picking locks for fun, creating art, playing musical instruments, and of course being a Nobel Prize winning physicist...he did it all. He wasn't some dog chasing a squirrel or anything like that got distracted and gave up on things all the time either. When he asked a question he cared about, he dove in heads first until he figured it out. He did so much, because he never stopped asking more questions. He lived a rich and full life of wonder and never ending series of questions with genuine curiosity and delight.
That is how I hope to live my own life for the rest of my days. I don't want to be one dimensional or "an expert" an anything. I want to let my questions guide my journey, wherever they may go. That is what this book of 365 reflections of books is in a lot of ways. I'm not supposed to be a "writer". I'm not supposed to care about physicist's, botanists, or how octopus' have consciousness. I'm supposed to be a Sales Expert in the Tech sector that knows a lot about sports and loves to compete. That was my profile. I was going to be that for the rest of my days and that would only have narrowed further as time went on and I climbed the "corporate ladder". That was until Emilia came along and woke me up out of my slumber and reminded me that I had a mission and purpose in this life. That mission is to ask all the questions I can dream up and live as full of a life as I can for the 2 of us, since she won't get that chance. I'm on a Feynman-esque mission to live a life of curiosity and never stop searching for the answers to all of my questions that my mind can dream up.
Question: What new path can your questions help you to discover?
